Turmeric Latte - Hot or Cold!

We're still crushing on this month's featured ingredient, turmeric. One of our favorite ways to make sure it's part of our daily diet is in delicious liquid form. You may already be familiar with Golden Milk, or Turmeric Lattes, but we thought we'd put together some options for all-weather and for the vegans in our office, and elsewhere :)

Note: Use fresh turmeric and ginger in both of these recipes if you can, using the powdered versions may result in a slightly gritty finished texture.


Let's start with the hot version since there are still a few weeks lefts before Spring!

Ingredients

½ C milk or coconut milk(V)

1 Tbs honey or Date Lady Date Syrup(V)

4 tsps freshly grated turmeric or 1 tsp ground turmeric

1 tsp freshly grated ginger or ¼ tsp ground ginger

⅛ tsp fresh ground nutmeg

3/4 C water

Pinch of kosher salt


Method

1. Whisk milk, sweetener, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, salt, and ¾ cup water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over med-low heat. Remove from heat, cover, and let mixture steep 5 minutes.

Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a mug and serve.


As we move into the warmer months you might still want to enjoy a daily turmeric beverage and our Iced Turmeric Latte fits the bill!

Again, we have included Vegan options!


Ingredients

1 C milk or cashew milk(V)

4 tsps freshly grated turmeric or 1 tsp ground turmeric

2 tsp raw sugar, honey or Date Lady Date Syrup(V)

1 tsp freshly grated ginger or ¼ tsp ground ginger

1 tsp fresh lemon juice

2 pinches of ground cardamom

Pinch of flaky sea salt


Method

1. Whisk milk, turmeric, sweetener, ginger, lemon juice, cardamom, and salt in a small bowl until everything has dissolved. Let stand for 5 minutes.

2. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup, pressing on solids to extract juices; discard solids.

3. Fill a glass with ice. Pour latte over and sprinkle additional ground cardamom for garnish.

Both of these are tasty and satisfying as presented above but if you find you like the taste of one over the other you can flip the temp. Each set of ingredients works well if you follow either set of instructions!
