The Sweet Story of Our Organic Honey
Spicy. Sweet. Tangy. Here’s to the flavor that started it all: Fire Cider Original! While there may be a variety of ways to enjoy it, fans all agree that the organic wildflower honey used in our Original blend is one of the best things about it.
The warm, floral sweetness helps create the smooth, balanced flavor. We recently shared why organic certification is so important, and why supporting sustainable farming practices is an integral part of our mission here at Fire Cider. Since the organic honey plays such a major role (hello, second ingredient!) in our signature blend, we thought we’d let you know a little more about it!
It's multi-floral honey that originates in the Yucatan. There is a rich history of beekeeping in the Yucatan, and the organic, hand-harvested wildflower honey produced in that region is a testament to that heritage. The story of the warm amber honey in every bottle of Fire Cider Original begins in a UNESCO protected region within in the Calakmul rainforest reserve of Mexico. The beehives of this coop apiary are located among the rainforest flora and Mayan stone ruins. Following traditional beekeeping practices that have been passed down for hundreds of years, the hives are kept organically, and working together, the farmers within the coop are able to share and develop new, organic techniques of pest control.
Sourcing our honey from producers committed to organic beekeeping, and according to traditional practices supports future bee populations as well as encourages future generations of beekeepers. And because the honey bees in this protected area forage among the rainforest wildflowers and trees, it also helps to maintain and protect the biodiversity of the Yucatan regional rainforest.
So next time you’re enjoying your shot of Fire Cider Original, you can sip in the satisfaction of knowing you played a part in maintaining the balance!
