National Stress Awareness Month
It's National Stress Awareness Month, and the irony of that is not lost on us. We're all dealing with a stressful pandemic and it's hard to see past the current situation. We're quarantining and social distancing, and while being home without obligations or expectations to go out sounds great, it can take a toll on our mental state.
While the current state of the world has us stressed, there's always going to be something happening that will have us feeling a bit on-edge. Now, and in other stressful times, there are lots of ways to try and reduce the anxiety we might be feeling.
Declutter/Organize Spaces in Your Home
We're all spending extra time at home lately, and it's easy to ignore the clutter that we've dealt with over the years. Our closets are overflowing with clothes we haven't worn in months, and our pantries are overflowing with expired food or canned goods that can help food banks and shelters.
Decluttering your home will not only benefit your bursting closet doors, but it will also help clear your mind and give you a renewed sense of satisfaction! Our brains love clean spaces.
Start a Wellness Routine to Look Forward To
We have routines for our skincare, our calendars, and our bedtimes. Why not have one for your wellness? If you don't already have one in place, now is the perfect time to get started! Swap out breakfast for a smoothie with fresh produce, start taking a multi-vitamin, or start a daily Fire Cider regimen!
Get Your Body Moving
There are a multitude of ways to keep your body moving and active, even when we're forced to stay at home (or at least far away from other people). Turn on your favorite music and start your very own dance party, or find a good workout online to get your heart rate up (and release endorphins!).
Going for a walk or a hike is always one of our first and favorite choices to get moving. It's simple, and it gets you out into nature for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Coming out of winter, our yards can all use a little cleanup, too! Just like when you declutter the inside of your home, you can be proud of your yard and prepared for Spring (whenever it makes its appearance!).
Laughter is the Best Medicine
When all else fails, get your silly on! Call a friend that you always have a good time with, put your devices away and play with your kids, or just watch a classic comedy movie. Laughing releases stress, and being in the moment and having a good time can help you forget about the bigger picture of what's going on in our world right now.
