Giving Tuesday: Elizabeth Freeman Center

Giving Tuesday: Elizabeth Freeman Center

There is an interconnection between the food we eat, the people who produce it and the soil in which it grows, and the communities in which we live. Here at Fire Cider, we strive to ensure the choices we make, from what we put in our grocery carts, to the ingredients we use in our tonics, are in the best interest of our personal health, the health of the Earth, and the well-being of our communities. Our commitment to organic certification is where it begins, acknowledging that our bodies, farms, and larger ecosystems benefit when we leave toxic chemicals, synthetic fertilizers, and genetic engineering out of the equation. But it doesn’t end there! Ensuring that our local communities thrive includes supporting the initiatives that strive to maintain safety for all. That’s why, in the spirit of giving this holiday season, we’ve chosen to partner with the Elizabeth Freeman Center in Pittsfield, MA.

Now celebrating its 44th year, the Center stands as an important source in our community with their mission:

Elizabeth Freeman Center offers hope, help, and healing to all experiencing or affected by domestic and sexual violence through free, accessible, and confidential services in Berkshire County. We work to end the cycle of violence through community mobilization, advocacy, and education. Promoting social justice and working to end all forms of oppression are essential to our work.

In addition to donating 10% of our online sales on Giving Tuesday (November 27, 2018), we will also make a matching donation to The Elizabeth Freeman Center in support of their free and confidential services, which include:

  • A 24/7 hotline and emergency shelter
  • Response to hospitals and police stations after an assault
  • Specialized LGBTQ counseling, advocacy, and groups
  • Counseling, advocacy, and safety planning
  • “Money school” financial literacy classes
  • a “SafePet” pet foster care program, and more!
